Vitalant Blood Services announce shortage of blood in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D.(KOTA)- Vitalant Blood Services has announced a critical shortage of blood – however it comes right on the eve of one of the Hills biggest blood drives.

Guns N Hoses 2022 will see the Rapid City Fire and Police Departments square in friendly competition to see who can get the most donors through the doors.

Tori Robbins is the communications director for Vitalant, and explained the current local blood status.

Team Fire and Team Police are currently neck and neck, and Tessa Jaeger, spokesperson for the Fire Department had some hot takes.

Brendyn Medina, spokesperson for the RCPD, reminds its all for a good cause.

The three-day blood drive starts June 21st and 22nd from 11 am to 5:30 pm, and ends on the 23rd from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm. The blood drive is held at the Rushmore Mall, and appointments can be made on Vitalant.org.
