WAGNER, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Department of Transportation is planning on a fifteen-million-dollar project to convert the current four lane configuration of Highway 46 through Wagner to a three-lane highway. In August, the Wagner City Council unanimously approved a resolution of support. This week, city voters rejected that resolution by a tally of one hundred thirty-three no, to sixty-four yes votes.
Gerrit Juffer of Wagner supports the current four lane highway.
Juffer says they would like the city council to rethink their position.
Juffer says they will follow up with the state D.O.T.
The project was scheduled for construction in 2025.
