MOBRIDGE, S.D.(DRGNews)- The first regular Walworth County Commission meeting of the new year began on a contentious note Thursday as Commissioner Kevin Holgard maintained his stance that newly appointed District 5 Commissioner Justin Jungwirth cannot represent District 5 because he does not reside in the district.

Holgard said he got information from the Secretary of State’s Office, but Walworth County State’s Attorney James Hare questioned the credentials of the person Holgard spoke with.

Hare challenged Holgard on the definition of living in a district.

Holgard told Hare he has talked to two attorneys about the situation, but wouldn’t give their names.

Hare said Jungwirth is not in violation of the code.
