Last night the Warner School Board held a regular meeting but faced concerned and frustrated citizens, about the contract they entered with Mammoth Sports Construction. At the root of the concerns lies legality and judgment when it comes to the bidding process for a bathroom construction. 14 people attended the meeting and several spoke directly to the board, about overall costs that seem inflated to those there, when it comes to materials, supplies and labor. Several said they had taken the plans to other contractors who came back with noticeably lower cost. An attendee gave some examples.
The Board was asked why it didn’t go out to public competitive bid, since the bids break the $100,000 threshold for that requirement. The Board held back comment as directed by their attorney, since there is an ongoing investigation by the South Dakota Legislative Audit and the Brown County Sheriff’s office. More on this story as it develops and unfolds.
