Water bodies and drainage continue to be a problem

Aberdeen, SD (Hub City Radio)

With the Elm, Richmond and Mina lake all draining south into Foote Creek, Moccasin Creek and Snake Creek.. the banks are about at capacity. Brown County Commissioner and James River Water Shed Chair, Mike Wiese explains exactly what water sheds consist of.

Commissioners are monitoring the area as reports have come in about Farm Cropland being flood with runoff, which can carry toxins like fertilizer, though unless public road ways are involved it’s really a civil matter.

The consistent rainfall events are compounding matters and limiting the amount of water that can be moved out of the area naturally. Several Agencies are keeping a close eye on the situation. Obstructions on private property impeding the flow have been the biggest issue so far.
