WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)–The Watertown City Council held the first reading of an ordinance Monday night that regulates the licensing fees of medical marijuana dispensaries.
The current annual fee is $25,000.
City Manager Amanda Mack.
Mack was asked when the council will get a look at, and vote, on the fee schedule.
Councilman Mike Danforth asked whether the annual cannabis ;licensing fees could be pro-rated for a dispensary that gets their license at a time other than the beginning of the year.
Mack says it may not be possible to renew the licenses of all dispensaries at the same time.
Because it was the first reading, no action was taken.
Watertown’s three medical marijuana dispensaries that sell the drug are Dakota Dispensaries, Lion’s Den Dispensary L.L.C., and the Dispensary of Watertown.
There are no cultivation, testing or manufacturing facilities of medical marijuana in Watertown.
