Watertown City Council approve first reading for zoning for property near the new Ice Arena

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)–The Watertown City Council held the first reading of an ordinance Monday night establishing a zoning designation for property located near the new $36 million Prairie Lakes Ice Arena that’s being built.

The land, if approved at a second reading, will be suitable for construction of single family homes and multi family residences.

Commercial development is expected there too. Most notably a new hotel has been mentioned in what’ll be known as the Lakes of Willow Creek.

Once the land is annexed and given a zoning designation, the developer will have two years to build the necessary infrastructure like streets, and water and sewer lines.
