Watertown City Council commits to E-30 fuel

WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT) — The Watertown City Council has chosen its fuel supplier for 2020, and in the process, is making a commitment to the local ethanol industry.

The council on Monday approved a negotiated fuel pricing agreement with Sioux Valley Co-Op.

Watertown City Engineer Heath Von Eye talked about the agreement.

And then Mayor Sarah Caron went on to explain that the pricing agreement includes a discounted rate for E-30 fuel, which contains a 30-percent ethanol blend.

She says E-30 will be used in the gas tanks of the entire city fleet of vehicles, including Police, Fire, Parks, Recreation and Forestry and Public Works.

Caron says the police department has been running E-30 in its squad cars for the past three years without any issues.
