Watertown City Council looking to work on the new city hall

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)–A decision on where to build a new Watertown City Hall will spill over to a new group of city council members.

Last night, Lynn Jurrens and Kyle Peters were sworn into office, as the city works behind the scenes to figure out where to build.

City Manager Amanda Mack:

The city purchased a vacant bank building downtown with the idea of renovating it into a new City Hall, but when renovation estimates came in way over budget, that idea was scrapped.

Mack says they could still sell it to a private developer.

The city bought the bank building for $1.3 million.
