Watertown City Council receive update on construction of the new ice arena

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)–The Watertown CIty Council got an update Monday night on construction progress on the $36.5 million Prairie Lakes Ice Arena.

Construction began just over a year ago, and the director of the Tegra Group, Mike Van Klei (kly), told the council that weather delays have pushed the projected opening date back slightly, from this December to January 2024.

Van Klei says the parking lot is now 80-percent paved, and both ice rinks in the new building should be user-ready by early January.
