WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- Right before this week’s Watertown School Board meeting adjourned, Board Member John Iverson mentioned cell phone bans in school and that parents are asking him if the school is doing anything in the Watertown School District.

Iverson begins his comments by suggesting a book.

Iverson suggests the board discuss it more.

The suggested board discussion comes after schools in Gettysburg and Edgemont, South Dakota, announced a cell phone ban for this coming school year.

According to ballotpedia.com, four states, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, and South Carolina, have used legislation to ban cell phones in classrooms. Eight states, including those four, have some version of cell phone limitation during school.
