WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- Watertown School Board rejected the bid presented at Monday’s meeting for Phase 2 of the Athletic Complex.

Business Manager Heidi Clausen.

Clausen continues after speaking with Gray Construction, “Many of the subcontractors are currently full, which has led to inflated bid numbers.”

Jason Kann, Associate Principal Architect with CO-OP Architecture.

Kann shared some concerns.

It was suggested to meet soon to discuss what value engineering could be done. Kann recommended that early fall would be an opportune time to seek bids.

Board Member Jon Iverson inquired what some of the increases were.

Kann cites electrical, style of lighting, and metal panels that wrap around the fieldhouse by grandstands.

With a unanimous vote, the School Board voted in favor of rejecting the bid.
