Watertown schools on lockdown this morning

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- Earlier this morning around 10:00am the Watertown School District locked down due to a threat received via email.

The Watertown Police Department was dispatched to provide protection and investigate the source.

We reached out the Superintendent Jeff Danielsen for further information.

Danielsen does not have the ability to share the student’s information nor school punishments; however no one was in danger.

They have procedures in place in the event of a threatening incident.

Danielsen has a strong message.

In the media release received from the Watertown Police Department took into custody a 14 year old male student. He is being charged with a Terrorist Threat, a Class 5 Felony. The South Dakota DCI, the SD Highway Patrol, and the Codington County Sheriff’s Office all assisted the Watertown Police Department.
