Watertown steers clears of facemask mandate

WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT) — City government in Watertown has steered clear of issuing any kind of facemask mandate in the midst of rising COVID-19 numbers.

Mayor Sarah Caron their focus has been on social distancing and being smart about the decisions you make.

Caron says the city has done a lot of its business via zoom calls and virtual meetings for several months now.

She hopes the numbers don’t get to the point where City Hall has to tell private businesses they have to close.

Codington County has 195 active cases as of Sunday.
