Weather impacting South Dakota

PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- Storms dropped all kinds of wintry precipitation across South Dakota over the weekend and through Wednesday.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Troy Kleffman says a couple storms came together to form one big storm.

Kleffman says the systems were slow moving and dropped varying amounts of snow.

Ahead of the storms, a majority of South Dakota has unseasonably warm temperatures, but Kleffman says that didn’t contribute to the heavy snow that fell.

Kleffman says for December, these were very wet storms.

The slushy– and at times icy– conditions made travel challenging in most South Dakota and the region.
