ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Joel Weig is the new Aberdeen Fire Chief.

Weig has been with the department for more than two decades. He talked about the changes that will take place in his transition from Battalion Chief to the head of Aberdeen Fire Rescue.

Few people ever grow up dreaming about becoming a firefighter, but it’s a profession Weig has grown to love.

Weig said that firefighters have many responsibilities and that each person is trained in emergency medical response.

He said that courses are available for those looking to get into the profession.
