Wings Earn Points On Friday & Saturday In Minot

MINOT, ND (AberdeenWings.com) – The Aberdeen Wings left Minot Saturday night, taking 3 of the 4 points on the line for the weekend.

Friday night was a back and forth contest, after a scoreless 1st period the two teams exchanged goals in the 2nd.  Cayden Casey was able to put Minot up first with Grant Kohnen responding for the Wings at the 12:16 mark.  Gravink assisted on the Kohnen goal.  Minot would retake the lead with a Jack O’Hanisain goal.  Logan Gravink would net one of his own late in the 2nd to make it 2-2 heading into the 2nd intermission.  Murray assisted on the Gravink goal. No scoring in the 3rd or overtime period meant another shootout.  The Wings couldn’t find the back of the net and Minot was able to get the game winning goal from Niklas Ketonen.  Adam Dybal was in net for the Wings stopping 37 of the 39 shots he faced.  Brady James stopped 14 of the 16 shots he faced.

The Wings looked to win the weekend Saturday, needing 2 points to take the weekend.  Minot scored first just 2:45 into the 1st period on a Niklas Ketonen goal.  That was it for the scoring in the 1st.  The rest was all Aberdeen as they controlled the 2nd period and received goals from Nikolai Tishkevich, with Bulgakov assisting and Isak Holmstrom with Kohnen receiving the assist.  Leonid Bulgakov would add an unassisted shorthanded goal in the 3rd period to close out the weekend with a 3-1 win.  Croix Kochendorfer was brilliant in goal for the Wings stopping 43 of the 44 shots he faced.  Brady James stopped 20 of the 23 shots from the Wings.

Aberdeen Returns to the Odde this Friday & Saturday to take on the defending Central Division Champion and current Central Division leading Austin Bruins.  It is Children’s Miracle Network Weekend!  The Wings will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off following Saturday nights game with Val Jark of Jark Worlie Auctions.  For tickets visit Tickets.AberdeenWings.com or stop by any of the C-Express locations in Aberdeen.
