Wings Earn Weekend Split In Bismarck

BISMARCK, ND (AberdeenWings.com) – The Aberdeen Wings took a weekend road trip to face the Bismarck Bobcats, and were able to get two points out of the weekend which helped them to remain in third place in the Central Division standings.

Friday’s contest started with scoring at the 13:36 mark. Aberdeen’s Leonid Bulgakov would get on the board first with assists going to Nikolai Tishkevich and Simon Pollock. Just ten seconds later, Bismarck’s Ian Engel would respond, tying the score. The score would be tied at one going into the second period.

At the 9:06 mark, Bismarck’s Kade Kohanski would give Bismarck the lead, and without a response from the Wings, Kade Kohanski would score again extending their lead. The score would be 1-3 heading into the third.

In the third and final period, Bismarck would get on the board two more times without any response from the Wings, both goals going to Tommy Cronin.

Adam Dybal was in net stopping 41 of 46 on the night.

Saturday’s matchup would have a different turnout, however.

Riley Sharun for the Wings would be the first to get on the board, granting the assist to Wes Turner. Then, in response, Wes Turner would also get on the board extending the Wings lead. Assists would go to Isak Holmstrom and Jibber Kuhl. The score would be 2-0 in favor of the Wings heading into the second period.

At the 3:41 mark, Luke Backel would score the only goal in the second period – assists going to Logan Gravink and Nick Comfort. Wings would lead 3-0.

In the third and final period, Jibber Kuhl would find the back of the net and extend the Wings lead even further with Lucas Lidstrom and Zachary Reim assisting. Later, the Wings would find themselves on the kill multiple times, and during that time, Bismarck would finally get on the board. Goals were scored by Alexander Kim and Landon Fandel. The score would end 4-3, and the Wings would win.

Croix Kochendorfer was in net for the Wings and was able to stop 40 of 43.

The Wings will be traveling to Minot next weekend, and then will be back in the Odde March 8th and 9th. More details to come!
