Wings Earn Weekend Split in IA

NORTH IA, (AberdeenWings.com) – The Wings had an offensive explosion Friday night, but struggled to get it back Saturday.

Grant Kohnen put the Wings up just 2:25 into the contest Friday night, scoring his 4th of the season.  Luke Lindsay assisted on the early goal.  Wings captain Riley Sharun would ad another at the 7:24 mark, with Logan Gravink getting the assist, giving the Wings a 2-0 lead heading into the locker room.  North Iowa would get on the board just 16 seconds into the 2nd period when Simone Dadie scored with assists going to Lindahl & Schouten.  Just over a minute later Kohnen would get his 2nd of the game on an unassisted goal.  Jackson Schouten would continue the back and forth scoring for North Iowa at the 3:29 point of the period.  After that it was all Aberdeen to close out the period getting goals from Nikolai Tishkevich, Logan Gravink, Leonid Bulgakov and Riley Sharun.  Sharun would add an assist along with Pollock, Gravink, Tishkevich and Lindsay giving the Wings a 7-2 Friday night victory.  Adam Dybal was in net for the Wings and stopped 18 of 20 shots.

Saturday was a much different story as North Iowa got out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd after a scoreless 1st period.  With goals from Max LeDuc and Simone Dadie.  Getting assists were Mexico (2) Richardson and Seaverson.  The Wings would go down 3-0 early in the 3rd as Justin Mexico would score with an assists going to Seaverson and Schouten.  The Wings would finally find the back of the net at the 10:33 mark of the 3rd with a Nick Comfort Goal, Wisener and Murray assisting.  Leonid Bulgakov would get the Wings within 1 scoring at the 13:32 mark of the period.  Comfort and Pollock would get the assist.  However that would be as close as they would get and fell 2-3.  Croix Kochendorfer stopped 25 of 28 in net for the Wings.

We will be on the road again this weekend as we travel to Bismarck for a pair of games against the Bobcats.  Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15pm and you can watch all the action at City Lights Bar and Event Center in Aberdeen.
