The Wings celebrated Children’s Miracle Network weekend at the Odde as they welcomed the Austin Bruins to town for the first time this season. Friday was a back and forth contest with the Bruins striking first as former Wing Will Diamond scored his first goal of the season in his first NAHL game of the year. Laurenza assisted on the goal. The Wings responded at the 18:20 mark of the period with Leonid Bulgakov scoring his 5th goal of the season. Holmstrom and Sharun assisted on the goal. After a scoreless 2nd period, the Wings would take the lead early in the 3rd with a Grant Kohnen goal at the 4:23 mark. Comfort and Mackie assisted on the goal. Austin would get the equalizer at the 12:26 mark of the 3rd with an Austin Salani goal, Zarsky and Bynum assisted. The teams headed into overtime with the Wings on the penalty kill. Shortly after a successful kill it was Gustav Noren scoring the game willer for the Bruins, Cook and Bynum assisted. Croix Kochendorfer stopped 31 of 34 in net for the Wings.
Saturday night was all Aberdeen. After a scoreless first period Logan Gravink put the Wings on the board with Pollock and Sharun getting the assist. The Wings were able to kill off 3 penalties in the period including a 5 min. major. The Game was tight throughout the contest, Luke Backel was able to let the crowd breath when he scored the empty net goal with 10 seconds remaining to give the Wings a 2-0 win. Adam Dybal was perfect in goal stopping all 41 shots he faced. The win snapped the Bruins 5 game winning streak. Following the game was the Children’s Miracle Network Jersey Auction where we were able to raise funds to help local Children get the medical help they need. The Wings load the bus again the next few weeks before returning to the Odde November 3rd & 4th to host Minot.
