ABERDEEN, SD (AberdeenWings.com) – The Wings again hosted the Bismarck Bobcats on home ice.
Friday’s match-up would start with a back and forth period of possession, but good defense for both teams as there would be no scoring in the first period.
Finally, at the 15:39 mark in the second period, Matthew Wisener for the Wings would find the back of the net, and Leonid Bulgakov would get the assist. Later, before the buzzer would sound to end the period, Isak Holmstrom would also score, extending the Wings lead. Riley Sharun and Logan Gravink assisted. The score would be 2-0 going into the third period.
The third period would almost go without adding to the score until the Wings found an opportunity at the empty net. Matthew Wisener would finally be the one to seal the deal with the empty net goal, with assists going to Lucas Lidstrom and Luke Backel.
Adam Dybal was in net for the Wings and stopped all 23 shots faced, recording his second shutout of the season.
Three stars for Friday, March 8th were Isak Holmstrom (1 goal), Matthew Wisener (2 goals), and Adam Dybal (23 save shutout).
Saturday’s matchup would have a bit of a turnaround, however.
The game would start off on the right foot when Nikolai Tishkevich would score the first goal of the game, with Leonid Bulgakov assisting. It would be just 4 minutes later that Bismarck would have a response. The score would be tied at 1 going into the second period.
Even though there were plenty of scoring opportunities in the second period, neither team would score, leaving the score tied at one going into the third and final period of the weekend.
At the 1:44 mark into the third period, Bismarck’s Julian Beaumont would score, along with Evan Hunter at the 3:24 mark, and to finish the scoring – Kai Dunits for the Bobcats would also score. This game would result in a loss of 1-4 for the Wings.
Adam Dybal was in net as well on Saturday night, stopping 28 of 32.
Three stars for the night were Grant Winkler, Leonid Bulgakov (1 assist), and Nikolai Tishkevich (1 goal).
The Wings will have a weekend off, and then will be back in action at the Odde to take on the North Iowa Bulls.
