YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Despite active Covid-19 infections continuing to fall, health care professionals are still urging people to get vaccinated.
Infection Control Specialist Liz Healy with Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton says while the vaccines are very good, an infection is still possible.
Healy says more people need to be vaccinated to keep the Covid infection rates at a low level.
Healy says the impacts of low vaccination rates can still be seen elsewhere in the world.
Avera Sacred Heart held vaccination clinics last week for kids ages 12 to 17. They immunized 88 young people during the two days.
The South Dakota Department of Health will hold a media briefing Wednesday at 11:30AM to provide an update on COVID-19
