Wolves Compete At Drake Relays

Indianola/Des Moines, IA (NSUWolves.com) – Northern State University track and field teams competed at both Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open. Wolves competed in the100m, 110m hurdles, 400m, 400m hurdles, 4x100m relay,4x200m realy, 4x400m relay, the sprint medley, and hammer throw.

DRAKE RELAY MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Seth Martens placed 17th in the 400m dash clocking a time of 48.89
  • Men’s 4x100m relay took 14th finishing in a time of 42.06 with athletes Chris WeberJoel MatehsNoah Bayer, and Martens
  • The 4x400m relay placed eighth crossing the finish line at 3:16.06 with athletes Drew SalfrankCarter DingmanDrew Henriksen, and Martens
  • Ty Kadlec, Henriksen, Dingman, and Josh Martin ran to a second place finish in the sprint medley event with a time of 3:27.79

DRAKE RELAY WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Renea Taylor placed 22nd in both the 400m hurdles and 100m dash in a time of 1:04.47 and 12.26
  • Women’s 4x100m relay placed 16th in a time of 48.26 with athletes Elisabet Osk Jonsdottir, Taylor, Vanessa Christensen, and Kyanna Collymore
  • The 4x200m relay placed 18th with athletes Collymore, Osk Jonsdottir, Emma Hunt, and Christensen in a time of 1:43.77
  • The 4x400m relay took 22nd place clocking 3:58.73 with athletes Collymore, Osk Jonsdottir, Alli Jackson, and Summer Carlson
  • Athletes Christensen, Osk Jonsdottir, Jackson, and Carlson took tenth in the sprint medley event in a time of 4:13.03

KIP JANVRIN MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Joel Matehs placed fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.79
  • Nick Olson placed 13th in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.69m

KIP JANVRIN WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Vanessa Christensen placed ninth in the 400m dash finishing in 1:00.83
  • Emma Hunt ran a time of 1:09.85 in the 400m hurdles and placed 13th
  • Cassidy Gough threw a mark of 48.53m in the hammer throw and placed fourth overall

BEYOND THE RESULTS

  • For the first time in school history the men’s 4x400m relay qualified for finals at the Drake Relays. They will compete again tomorrow at 4:57 p.m.

Des Moines, IA (NSUWolves.com) – Northern State University track and field teams competed on the final day of Drake Relays. The Wolves defeated one school record and had multiple top ten finishes.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Men’s 4x200m relay took fourth place finishing in a time of 1:27.09 with athletes Chris WeberTy KadlecDrew Salfrank, and Noah Bayer
  • The 4x400m relay placed third in the finals clocking a time of 3:15.06 with sprinters Salfrank, Carter DingmanDrew Henriksen, and Seth Martens
  • Damon Roggenbuck and Carson Barnett placed fourth and fifth in the college/university division of the javelin throw with distances of 55.90m and 55.03m
  • Levi Reis placed seventh in the college championship division of javelin throw with a mark of 58.07m

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Women’s shuttle hurdles placed seventh in a new school record of 1:01.73 with athletes Morgan SheldonKarli KleinAddison Cumbow, and Renea Taylor
  • Cassidy Gough hit a mark of 48.81m in the hammer throw and took 22nd place

BEYOND THE RESULTS

  • Sheldon, Klein, Cumbow, and Taylor are the first athletes to hold the school record in the shuttle hurdle relay

The Northern State University track and field teams will compete at the NDSU Tune-Up this coming Friday on May 3rd. The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m. with field events and running events will start at 3:00 p.m.
