Wolves Deliver In the Pool vs. U-Mary & SMSU

Aberdeen, SD (NSUWolves.com) [FRI] – The Northern State swim team finished the day with a win over the Marauders, 117-96, but fell short against the Mustangs, 118.50-95.50. The Wolves claimed five, first place finishes out of 12 events on the day.

WOLVES HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Wolves kicked on the night with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of4:11.97; relay members included Maddie Gonzales, Brianna Back, Lilly Grebner, and Mia Fursedonne
  • In the 200 Free, Haley Osborne took the top spot, hitting the wall at 1:58.31
  • Annalise Olsson kept it rolling for the Wolves with a second-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 26.21
  • Grebner claimed the top spot in the 200 IM with Gonzales following behind in third place with times of 2:12.90 and 2:22.06 respectively
  • Jacie Flockhart returned to the diving board to claim first place in the 1-meter dive, notching a score of 228.00
  • In the 100 fly, Grebner and Alexia Hoven took first and second place hitting the wall at 59.02 and 1:01.31 respectively
  • Back and Gonzales recorded back-to-back second place finishes in the 100 free and 100 back with times of 56.71 and 1:01.81
  • Osborne took the top spot in the 500 free, recording a time of 5:20.48
  • A team of Fursedonne, Tayla Liddle, Olsson, and Osborne closed out the night with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:44.25

Grebner was followed by Haley Osborne in fourth place, Mia Fursedonne in sixth place, and Maddie Gonzales in seventh place.

WOLVES HIGHLIGHTS

  • Lilly Grebner kicked off the day for the Wolves with a first-place victory in the 50 fly with a time of 26.87
  • In the 50 back, Grebner and Mia Fursedonne notched third and fourth place finishes hitting the wall at 28.82 and 28.95 respectively
  • Grebner followed up with a second-place finish in the 50 breast with a time of 31.95 with Alexia Hoven close behind finishing in fourth place with a time of 33.90
  • In the next event, Grebner took first place in the 50 free with a time of 25.12, with Haley Osborne following behind in third at 25.63
  • Jacie Flockhart claimed champion of the board with a first-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 79.45
  • In the final event of the day, Grebner and Osborne notched a second and fourth place in the 100 IM hitting the wall at 1:00.95 and 1:04.73 respectively

  • Lilly Grebner: Tied for first place with a combined time of 2:53.71
  • Haley Osborne: Fourth place with a combined time of 3:02.43
  • Mia Fursedonne: Sixth place with a combined time of 3:05.99
  • Maddie Gonzales: Seventh place with a combined time of 3:07.95

UP NEXT

The Northern State swim team will have roughly two weeks before the NSIC Championships that take place February 13-17. The 5-day event is set to be held in Sioux Falls at the Midco Aquatic Center.
