Wolves Drop A Pair on Tuesday

Clermont, FL (NSUWolves.com)  – The Northern State University softball team continued their loss streak on Tuesday, falling to No. 14 Grand Valley State and Felician University on a cool and rainy day from Clermont.

GAME 1 – GVSU

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Grand Valley State scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of third inning, and then tacked on five more in the bottom of the fourth taking a 6-0 lead.
  • Madison Rutter put the Wolves on the board in the fifth with a single to center, scoring Emma Terveer. Terveer was pinch running for Kennady Thompson who walked to lead off the inning.
  • Northern tallied one run on two hits with two errors on defense.
  • Andrea Cherney suffered the loss for the Wolves throwing six complete innings. The freshman gave up six unearned runs on two hits with four strikeouts.

GAME 2 – FU

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Felician jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
  • Madison Rutter and the Wolves answered back in the bottom of the fourth tying the game on a single up the middle scoring Rachel Reinke. Reinke was running for Jen Martin who walked two at-bats prior.
  • Cassidy Schaar then plated Emma Terveer with a single up the middle as well. Terveer pinch ran for Jamie Fisher who singled through the right side.
  • The Falcons added the game winning run and one run of insurance in the following frame.
  • Northern scored two runs on seven hits with two errors, leaving a total of nine runners on base.
  • Jamie Fisher recorded the loss in the game, giving up four earned runs on nine hits in 4.0 innings of work.
  • Andrea Cherney entered in relief, throwing the final three innings with three strikeouts.
