Topeka, KS (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University softball team fell to a pair of MIAA opponents on Monday, facing Emporia State and Northwest Missouri State. The Wolves struggled defensively in the two contests, giving up six errors.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. EMPORIA
- The Hornets broke things open early, scoring five runs in the top of the first, and added three in the third, one in the fourth, and seven in the fifth
- Northern responded in both the first and second with three runs, coming within two before Emporia ran away with the game
- Aune Boben led off the game for NSU with a single to right and scored the Wolves first run of the game on a single up the middle by Emma Owens
- Owens cut the ESU lead to three, scoring on a double to right center by Avarie Eagle and the two teams headed to the second with Emporia up 5-2
- In the bottom of the second, Brooke Carlson led off the inning with a homerun to left center, scoring the Wolves third and final run of the contest
- The Wolves were held off the base paths in their final three plate appearances
- Boben suffered the loss in the circle, giving up 16 earned runs on 15 hits with three walks and two strikeouts
- Boben, Owens, Eagle, and Carlson tallied the team’s four hits in the game

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE
- The Bearcats put together a pair of big innings in the first and second, scoring eight and six runs respectively
- Of the 14 runs scored in the two innings, only four were earned off NSU starter Abby Rux
- Rux suffered her second loss of the 2025 season, giving up 13 hits and four walks with two strikeouts
- The Wolves offense tallied two hits in the contest from Aune Boben and Emma Owens, with Boben adding a stolen base and a walk
