Wolves Drops Non-NSIC Affair To Duluth

Duluth, MN (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University soccer team fall to Minnesota Duluth in their non-conference match 3-1. The Bulldogs were able to capitalize on three goals; all coming in the second half.

  • Northern State’s offense was on the attack with Hannah Smith scoring a goal in the first 15 minute of play; Megan Fastenau tallied her first assist of the season on the play
  • The Wolves offense stayed on the attack racking up two shots-on-goals in the final minutes of the first half by Chloe Voss
  • NSU led at the half, however UMD responded early in the second on a penalty kick goal
  • The Bulldogs took the lead in the 76th minute and extended that to 3-1 less than a minute later
  • The Wolves lead the first half in shots 4-1, but fell behind in the second half to the Bulldogs 12-3
  • Each team recorded six corner kicks and six fouls in the game, with the Wolves notching a game high four saves

Northern State will face off against MSU Moorhead on Friday, September 15 opening their NSIC season on the road. The match between the Wolves and Dragons is set to kick off at 3 p.m. from Nemzek Soccer Field.
