Wolves Offense Explodes For 18 In Romp of Minot

Aberdeen, SD (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University baseball team dropped game one, 15-4 against Minot State, but rallied back in game two to win, 18-8. Key situational hitting led the Beavers to the win in game one. A powerful offensive spark led the Wolves to victory in game two with 19 hits. NSU recorded 22 runs off of 23 hits on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1

  • After a scoreless first inning, Minot State was the first to score in the second and third inning with six runs
  • The Beavers extended their lead with two runs in the top of the fourth
  • Northern State chipped away from the deficit as Nick Friedges scored on an error by the shortstop in the bottom of the fourth
  • In the bottom of the fifth, Jackson Meyer scored on error by the third baseman to trail by six runs
  • MISU responded back in the sixth inning with one run
  • Jonah Schmidt found a gap in left field for a double that scored Jack Widner in the sixth
  • As Meyers stolen second base, Jonah Schmidt scored to trail by five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning
