Sioux Falls, SD (NSUWolves.com)– The Northern State University men’s and women’s cross-country teams took seventh (men) and 11th (women) from their first meet this season at the Augustana Twilight. The men recorded an average 4-mile time of 20:48.25, while the women notched an average 5k time of 19:30.19.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Nathan Alto led the way for the Wolves, taking 19th with a time of 20:02.69
- Josh Martin crossed the finish line at 20:17.55 in 29th place
- Evan Halbe tallied a time of 20:48.47, while Jonathon Burkhalter and freshman Ricky Berndt rounded out the Wolves top-5 with times of 20:51.41 and 22:01.10 respectively
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Megan Pickering led the way for the women, landing in the top-50 with a mark of 18:47
- Mary Franssen followed with a of 19:18.28
- Kenzie Hamann followed closely with a time of 19:24.92, while freshman Avery Miles and Jolie Dugan rounded out the women’s team with times of 19:58.29 and 20:02.29

Northern State will travel to the SDSU Classic on September 8th in Brookings. Hosted by South Dakota State University the women’s race will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s race at 6:30 p.m. from the Edgebrook Golf Course.
