Wolves Record Split With Marauders

BISMARCK, ND (NSUWolves.com) – Northern State split its five doubleheaders in a row, as it beat UMary 10-7 in game one before losing 11-5 in game two.

GAME ONE: NORTHERN STATE 10, MARY 7

  • In NSU’s victory over the Marauders, the Wolves tallied a season-high 18 hits, 10 runs, eight RBIs, four doubles, two errors, 21 putouts and 12 assists.
  • After jotting a run in the first, the Wolves recorded five runs in the second inning to jump to a quick 6-0 lead.
  • After three straight hits to start the inning, Northern State quickly found itself down to its final out after the Marauders got Brooke Wolf and Hailey Cota out on a double play
  • Aune Boben then chalked her second double of the game, bringing Kinsely Stover in from third, with Dessa Bryant following behind
  • Alicia Jeanson and Sydney Anderson quickly filled the bases by way of walk before Boben scored from third on a wild pitch
  • Tevan Bryant brought Jeanson and Anderson home in the next at-bat off a two-RBI single to left center
  • The Marauders added one at the bottom of the inning, their first run of the game
  • After a three-run inning in the third for Mary, both teams added two runs apiece in the fifth, with Dessa Bryant and Cota scoring in the inning
  • Similar to the fifth, Northern State racked up two more in the seventh to seal the game in favor of the Wolves

  • With two outs and Jeanson on first, Tevan Bryant kept the inning alive with a single to right before a Corina Coppersmith walk loaded the bases for the Wolves
  • A Stover double brought two runs across before a Cota single brought Coppersmith home
  • The Marauders brought three in as well in the first before both teams added another run in the second
  • With the game tied at 4-4, UMary recorded three hits in the third, bringing in four runs to take its first lead of the game
  • The Wolves put one more run on the board, with Tevan Bryant recording an RBI, bringing Jeanson in
  • Two more runs in the sixth propelled UMary to its third NSIC victory of the season
