MELBOURNE, FL (NSUWolves.com) – After losing in a close 2-1 battle against the Bulldogs of Ferris State, Northern State notched their first win of the Space Coast Games in thrilling fashion as Corina Coppersmith sent Dessa Bryant home on a walk-off hit in the seventh to win the game 2-1.

GAME ONE: FERRIS STATE 2, NORTHERN STATE 1

  • Northern State went into the final half-inning of the game trailing 1-0 and facing a four-game losing streak
  • Madi Jones started the inning strong, tallying a double to put herself in scoring position
  • Tevan Bryant stepped up and grounded out, but advanced Jones to third with two outs to go
  • With Jones at third, Dessa Bryant tied the game, recording an RBI single and becoming the go-ahead runner at first
  • That’s when sophomore Corina Coppersmith stepped up to the bag and delivered one of the most important at-bats so far this season, sending the ball up the middle and bringing Bryant home on a walk-off
  • In the game, Northern State recorded two runs, five hits, two RBIs, two errors and three strikeouts from the rubber

MELBOURNE, FL (NSUWolves.com) [SUN] – The Wolves split their two games today, losing to Felician 2-1 before tallying a five-run inning in their dominant 9-1 victory over Post University. In the two games, Jeanson went 3-for-7 at the plate while recording four runs, two RBIs and a double, while totaling six assists and two putouts.

GAME ONE: FELICIAN 2, NORTHERN STATE 1

  • In Northern State’s loss to Felician, the Wolves recorded one run, three hits, a double, a triple and three strikeouts from the rubber
  • Jeanson led off for NSU, reaching first off an error from Karina De LA Vega before a Madi Jones double brought her home to notch the first run of the game
  • The next three innings were played in a defensive fashion from both sides, until Makayla De La Rosa doubled with two outs gone
  • De La Rosa would end up tying the game shortly after and, with the bases loaded, shortstop Gabriella Diaz popped up to Aune Boben to end the inning
  • The Wolves left a batter on base in extra innings to give Felician the chance to walk it off.
  • With runners on each base, Kimberly Torres singled to bring Kaitlyn DeBondt home to win the game

  • In the Wolves’ 9-1 victory, the team tallied nine runs, 10 hits, nine RBIs, five walks, two doubles and five strikeouts.
  • Similar to the previous game, Jeanson found herself on base in the first inning, this time on a leadoff double
  • Jones once again tallied an RBI while getting the freshman home as she flew out to right field
  • It wasn’t until the third inning that the Wolves found themselves in scoring position, with Tevan Bryant on first, Jeanson on second and Kinsley Stover on third
  • Corina Coppersmith singled following Tevan Bryant’s walk, earning two RBIs and allowing Jeanson to score her second of three runs of the game, with Stover touching home first
  • The Wolves continued to feast, scoring five runs in the following inning
  • With Kennedy Boyer (first base) and Hailey Cota (second base) on the bags, Jeanson sent one into the outfield, far enough for Cota to score from second
  • In the next two at-bats, both Boben and Jones notched similar stats: a single, an RBI and a runner advancement before Tevan Bryant cleared her teammates off the bags with a double to round out one of the team’s best innings of the tournament
  • Post scored in the fifth off a walk with the bases loaded before Dessa Bryant stepped onto the mound
  • After a strikeout, pop out and another strikeout, the Wolves found themselves one run away from ending the showing early
  • After Boyer reached first off an error and Stover advanced her into scoring position, Jeanson put the nail in the coffin, notching a single and an RBI courtesy of Boyer to end the game
