Wolves Split With Beavers In The Magic City

Minot, ND (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University softball team snapped their NSIC loss streak on Tuesday, splitting with Minot State who sits third in the league standings. The Wolves rallied from behind in game two, securing their second NSIC victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
  • Tevan Bryant got the Wolves on the board first in game one, belting her second home run of the season to center in the top of the second
  • Minot answered in the third with one run and the 1-1 score held through the fifth inning
  • Avarie Eagle grabbed the lead again for NSU on a long ball of her own in the sixth, however the Beavers quickly responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame
  • Eden Ford doubled in Courtney Hennen in the seventh, however the Wolves left one runner on base in the inning unable to tie the game
  • Northern scored their three runs on six hits and did not give up an error defensively, but did leave seven runners on in the contest
  • Abby Rux recorded the loss, giving up four earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts
  • Ford led the offense with two hits, including a double, while Madi Jones and Brooke Carlson added a double of their own

  • Minot State jumped out to an early lead in game two, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first
  • The Wolves responded in the third, tying the contest on a pair of home runs by Aune Boben and Madi Jones; Jones’ long ball plated Tevan Bryant and Eden Ford
  • The Beavers grabbed the lead again in the bottom of the third and Emma Owens tied things for NSU in the fourth
  • The junior tallied a solo home run to center, the team’s fifth of the afternoon
  • For the third time in the contest the Beavers took the lead in the fourth, however the Northern State offense was not finished
  • Addy Hobza led off the sixth for NSU with a single up the middle and came around to score on Owen’s second home run of the contest, this time to left
  • Abby Rux entered the contest in relief in the fourth and held the Beavers scoreless, earning her fifth win of the 2025 season
  • Rux did not give up a hit in 3.2 innings of work and struck out four
  • Tevan Bryant and Emma Owens led the team with two hits apiece in the win, as Northern scored their seven runs on nine hits
