RAPID CITY, S.D. (KBHB) – Authorities have identified a woman killed in a motorcycle vs truck crash Saturday afternoon.
Rapid City Police say 49-year-old Yvonne Hatcher was driving her motorcycle northbound on 5th Street at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday when she approached a construction zone near Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Police say a construction flagger was set up to stop northbound traffic so a dump truck could navigate the wide right turn into the south parking lot at 353 Fairmont Boulevard. Witnesses have told authorities that the motorcyclist did not stop for the flagger and continued at a high rate of speed, colliding with the truck.
Hatcher was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation by the RCPD’s Critical Accident Reconstruction Team.
