Work being done around Gavins Point Dam during lower releases

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The sandbars have returned to the Missouri River as releases from Gavins Point Dam have dropped to the winter level of 17,000 cubic feet per second.

Gavins Point Operations Manager Tom Curran says they are using the lower releases to get work done around the dam.

Curran says they are also doing work inside the power house.

Curran says they will also have a major project on the drain field on the downriver side of the dam.

The low water releases are scheduled to continue at least until March.
