Work progressing on new softball complex

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Work has started on new softball fields in Aberdeen.

The location of four new fields will be at the old Swisher Track and Field complex, just south of the Players Softball Complex, which also includes four fields.

B&B Contracting was awarded the bid for the contract at $3,758,076.

Mark Hoven, Director of Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry, is excited about the plan. He said he expects the fields to be ready to go with play scheduled for 2022.

Hoven talked about the details of the fields.

A big factor in the additional diamonds was the chance to host future state tournaments. Aberdeen’s current fields are not regulation size.

Hoven said that eventually there will be an opportunity for naming rights to the facility.
