Work to begin on bridge south of Britton Friday

BRITTON, S.D.(Press Release)- A significant bridge repair project is slated to commence on S.D. Highway 27 is located approximately two miles south of Britton. The project, set to begin on Friday, April 19, 2024, will involve the installation of signs and concrete barriers by the contractor as the initial phase. The bridge work is scheduled to start on Monday, April 22, 2024.

The repair work will necessitate reducing traffic to a single lane, with stop signs employed to control vehicle flow at the bridge. This measure is expected to ensure the safety of the construction crew and the motorists during the repair period.

The project, valued at $1.8 million, has been awarded to BX Civil & Construction, Inc., a reputable construction firm based in Dell Rapids, SD. The company is responsible for ensuring the successful completion of the repair work.

The bridge repair is projected to be completed by Friday, June 28, 2024. However, the overall project, which may include ancillary tasks related to the repair work, is expected to reach completion by Friday, October 11, 2024.
