YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The Yankton City Commission voted 7-2 to impose a face mask mandate for people inside buildings where social distancing is not possible.
During the public input portion of the special meeting Wednesday night, Amanda Johnson cautioned the commission on the mandate.
Mallory Schulte says the lack of a mask mandate puts people in danger.
Commissioner Amy Miner said they need to protect the health care system and workers.
Commissioner Stephanie Moser (moe-zhur) said the issue has become divisive.
The mandate, which has no penalty, will become effective Friday.
