YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The Yankton City Commission approved an agreement with Bon Homme County to house city prisoners in the county jail in Tyndall.

Yankton City Attorney Ross Den Herder says due to coronavirus restrictions, the Yankton County Jail doesn’t have room for city prisoners.

Den Herder says the city needs the agreement with Bon Homme County to legally move prisoners.

Den Herder says Yankton County will have to pay for any prisoners held in Bon Homme County.

The Yankton County Commission and Bon Homme County Commission will also have to approve the agreement.
