YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – In their final meeting of the year last week, the Yankton City Commission approved a resolution designating the city and its employees as essential.

City Manager Amy Leon says its all related to the ongoing pandemic.

Leon says it may help the city be eligible for future federal funding.

Leon says it may also help move some city workers up the waiting list for Covid-19 vaccinations.

The city commission will hold their first meeting of the new year on Jan. 11.
