YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The Yankton County Commission agreed to an amended resolution opposing the federal government’s thirty by thirty proposal. That’s a program aimed at placing thirty percent of the nation’s land and water in conservation programs by the year 2030.
District 18 Representative Julie Auch of Lesterville led the support for adopting the resolution.
Former legislator Bernie Hunhoff said the resolution would involve the commission in issues they should and could avoid.
Commissioner John Marquardt said they could use the resolution as an educational tool.
Despite some objections, the commission passed the resolution unanimously. Yankton County joins eight other counties that have passed similar resolutions.
