YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- After months of discussions and public meetings, the Yankton County Commission approved amendments to the county zoning ordinance dealing with livestock facilities.
The changes included setbacks, manure management and minimum lot sizes.
Commissioner Joe Healy says there has been a lot of misinformation circulating about the amendments.
Commissioner Dan Klimisch says he couldn’t support the changes.
Commissioner Wanda Howey-Fox and Commission Chair Cheri Loest had an exchange at the end of the debate.
Howey-Fox then made the motion to approve the changes.
The vote to approve the changes was three to two. Opponents of the amendments have talked about a petition drive to refer the changes to a public vote.
