Yankton gaming issue to go before state Senate

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – A resolution that would put a constitutional amendment on the 2020 ballot that would allow a single gaming license in the City of Yankton has been delayed several times and is scheduled now to be heard in the state Senate today.

Senator Craig Kennedy says the delay is tied to ongoing negotiations.

Kennedy says there are still conversations about the casino proposal.

Kennedy says he isn’t sure how the resolution will fare in the Senate.

Backers of the casino plan have said they would be prepared to start a petition drive if the resolution fails in this year’s session.
