Yankton man arrested in fatal stabbing in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Joseph Deng Mamot, 50-years-old, of Yankton, has been arrested for first degree murder, second degree murder and two counts of first degree manslaughter in the stabbing death of his girlfriend, Akot Mater, 39, after a verbal altercation.

The victim was stabbed numerous times.

Minnehaha County State’s Attorney Crystal Johnson outlines the charges.

Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sam Clemens said it was a fatal case of domestic violence.
