YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- With the legalization of medical marijuana looming on July first, the Yankton City Commission is moving on a local control ordinance.

City Manager Amy Leon updated the commission at their meeting this week.

Leon says the ordinance is written in pencil at this point.

Leon says she wants the commission and the city to stay ahead of the coming changes.

While the law is effective on July first, the actual sale of medical marijuana my not take place until later this year.
