YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The Yankton School Board approved a resolution opposing the adoption of the proposed new social studies standards currently being considered by the state Board of Education.

Superintendent Wayne Kindle told the board they surveyed their staff that teach socials studies.

Kindle says they also surveyed parents on the standards.

Kindle says they also included teachers in the question about social studies standards.

The School Board approved the resolution unanimously with no discussion.

The State Board of Education is still in the public hearing phase of the standards process.
