Yankton School Board passed mask mandates for public schools

YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The Yankton School Board heard about 90 minutes of sometimes emotional public input both opposed and in favor of a face mask requirement for students and staff at their special meeting Tuesday night.

Michelle Graney is opposed to her kids wearing a face mask.

Liz Fromboldt told the board that everyone should agree on reducing Covid infections.

Jerome Klimisch, Director of Student Services for the district, gave the board an update on reported positive cases.

Board Member Franni Kieffer made the motion for a face mask requirement.

The resolution passed on a four to one vote.
