Yankton schools coping with rules set for medical marijuana

YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The Yankton School Board heard a report on their proposed medical cannabis policy Monday night.

District attorney, Sheila Woodward, says they have been dealing with changes from the state Department of Education.

Woodward says the district will have to allow the use of medical cannabis by students.

Woodward says there are a number of regulations that schools will have to follow.

While medical cannabis became legal on July first, the actual use won’t begin until the Department of Health finalizes rules later this fall.
