Yankton School District uses alternate testing to track students

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – Due to the school year ending early last spring because of the pandemic, students did not complete their yearly standardized tests.

The Yankton School Board got an update at their meeting Monday night from the testing that was done.

Superintendent Wayne Kindle says they were able to use some alternative testing to get an idea of how students are doing.

Kindle says they hope to get back to the normal test schedule during the spring semester.

Kindle says missing a quarter of school could have set some students back.

The partial test results the district got back, mostly in language skills, showed most students making adequate progress.
