YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – Voters in the Yankton School District approved a property tax opt out by a 54 to 46 percent margin. Just under 27 percent of registered voters cast a ballot in Tuesday’s election.
Yankton School Superintendent Wayne Kindle was thankful for the result.
The opt out is for $1.85 million a year for four years.
Kindle says they will be careful with the added tax dollars.
Kindle says they will only use what they need to balance the budget.
The total vote was: 1965 yes and 1676 no. The opt out begins with next year’s taxes.
