Zach Flakus named new President & CEO of NSU Foundation

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – Zach Flakus has been named the new President and CEO of the Northern State University Foundation.

Flakus, a Northern alum and longtime NSU administrator, will start in his new position leading the Foundation in mid-June.

Most recently, Flakus worked as General Manager of Jackrabbit Sport Properties (South Dakota State University) for Learfield/IMG College, in Brookings. Prior to that, he served as NSU Deputy Director of Athletics, as well as Director of Athletic Development/Associate Athletic Director and Associate Director of Alumni Services, both for the NSU Foundation.

“I’m thrilled for this opportunity to return to Northern and lead the Northern State University Foundation,” said Flakus, who received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from NSU. “It’s an exciting time for the NSU campus and I’m looking forward to continuing the positive momentum.”

Michael Bockorny, chairman of the NSU Foundation Board, said Flakus was the right choice for the position.

“His history with Northern and extensive industry experience are the perfect combination to guide the Foundation forward,” Bockorny said. “We’re thrilled that he’s taking on this position, and excited for what the future holds.”

Flakus replaces former Foundation President and CEO Todd Jordre, who retired in April after serving in the role since 2004.
